Michelle Dress PDF Upcycle Sewing Pattern by Paganoonoo
The Michelle is upcycled* using 3-5 dress shirts (instead of flat fold fabric). With upcycling, there is no need to print, cut out and tape together PATTERN PIECES. The starting materials are 3D garments, so instead the "pattern" is instructions and illustrations that define exactly what and where to cut (disassemble) and how to reassemble the pieces. You are purchasing a set of instructions that you print on 8.5" by 11" paper which can be put in a binder for future ease of reference.

The Michelle Dress has a bell shaped silhouette with a semi-fitted bodice, featuring an empire waistline in the center front which dips down as it moves to the back of the dress. Large deep front pockets surrounded by pleating are a playful addition and the design is loose fitting in the hips. The ¾ length sleeves are hemmed or accented by an optional cuff. Optionally, a double collar adds flair and a flower dresses up the look even more. The overall effect is feminine, comfortable, and confident.
The Michelle silhouette works well with ALL FIGURE TYPES and adapts well to ROMANTIC AND BOHO themes. Would make a great eco-friendly bridesmaid pattern (they will wear it later!)
ALL SIZES ARE INCLUDED in that the size/fit of the finished garment is determined by the size of the shirt used for the upper torso, the other parts are self-scaling. ANYONE, any size, who can find a dress shirt to fit the way they like across the shoulders and bust, can successfully fit this pattern.
The pattern is intended to be semi-fitted in the upper bodice. For larger busts, dart and pleat instructions are provided to customize the fit. Avoid any bodice shirt so tight that it strains at the bust, back or upper arms, or limits movement. If the bodice shirt is tight at the hip, this is not a problem; the instructions walk you through the design process. The Michelle Dress silhouette works well with ALL FIGURE TYPES and is particularly flattering on pear shaped ladies; it is self-adjusting to individual body curves.
Really tall or short? This pattern is easy to adjust for height.
The sewing is straightforward piece assembly, mostly using topstitching. All of the tough parts like the collar, collar band, plackets, buttonholes are already sewn on the starting garments, making your job easier! The customization is achieved by picking the right size starting garment and making choices about where to cut by looking at the garment fit on your own body.
Sewers with experience with mixing colors and patterns will fulfill their artistic dreams, but those just learning these skills will find they enjoy the challenge and growth to their creativity. !! Have Fun !!
